“#5”, a story about climate and construction through learnings from a 20 storey timber building, entitles the round table panel held by ANNA-JOHANNA KLASANDER, Director of R&D WHITE Arkitekter, Sweden, on the 23rd of November at Palazzo Badoer, Università Iuav di Venezia, starting from 9.30 – 11.30 AM during the SHARE X: Conference for Advanced Architecture.
The specialized roundtable discussion will elaborate on the latest research developments discovered by WHITE Arkitekter during the “Sara Culture Centre” project. From the starting point to its actual implementations, dr. Anna-Johanna Klasander will share the lessons learned from this pioneering project, and the transformations that made the design possible.
Dr. Anna-Johanna Klasander is partner at White Arkitekter and the director of the company’s organisation for research and development – White Research Lab. She is an architect with broad experience in the field, ranging from research, public planning, and private consultancy to critical writing and engagement in associations within the profession. Anna-Johanna has a PhD in Urban Design and Planning and works in parallel to White as artistic professor at the department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology. She is regularly engaged by different funding bodies as assessor of research applications. In 2022 Anna-Johanna was elected Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
“#5” will question during a presentation of 45 minutes how sustainability can be a driver for practice-based research and push the transition of the industry. Sara Culture Centre is a high profile project on a limited municipal budget. The broad set of challenges related to this project includes construction of a tall timber building, responsible sourcing of materials, climate calculations, and multi-disciplinary collaborations.
This exceptional meeting between professionals will present real-world applications of both ongoing and completed research and it aims to not only showcase successful integrations of these innovative techniques into project design and construction, but also to stimulate dialogue through a 45-minutes open discussion with the audience members moderated by KEREM YAZGAN, Co-Founder Yazgan Design Architecture, Turkey.
The International Conference for Advanced Architecture will take place on 23rd of November at Università Iuav di Venezia, Palazzo Badoer and the following day, on the 24th it will be hosted at M9 Museum, Mestre. The Conference will be chaired by arch. Luca Molinari, Scientific director of M9 Museum and is organised by SHARE Architects together with Ordine degli Architetti Pianificatori Paesaggisti e Conservatori Venezia,under the patronage of the Fondazione Degli Architetti, Pianificatori, Paesaggisti e Conservatori della Provincia Di Venezia, and Federazione Regionale Ordini Architetti PPC Veneto.
